KABERAMAIDO: The people of Kaberamaido district have been asked to support the NRM presidential candidate , president Museveni whole heartedly  to speed up fulfillment of his pledges.

By Julius Elasu

President Museveni, during his campaign trails in Teso sub region, pledged to tarmac Katine-Ochero road which connects Kaberamaido district to the ferry in Amolatar district.

The said road is one of the busiest roads in the district which traders, including those from Amolatar district,Soroti and Mbale cities use to take their merchandise to Ochero market.

The NRM flag bearer for Kaberamaido county, Alfred Edakasi Elalu Olale , during one of his rallies asked his supporters to rally behind president Museveni saying he is the only candidate capable of developing Uganda if re-electected president despite his age.

Olale urged the people of Kaberamaido to vote leaders who are capable of developing the district which was curved out of Soroti in 2001.

He was shocked that Kaberamaido Health Center IV which was elevated to the hospital status in 2018 up-to-date is operating with staffing gaps and yet there are elected leaders in the district.

He says he will fix such problems if he is elected member of parliament for Kaberamaido county on January 14,2021.

The MP hopeful is currently repairing broken boreholes and providing water filters to different villages in Kaberamaido as one of his campaign strategies.

However on his part, Olale says he will buy for farmers machines for processing their produce to help them (farmers) compete in the market.

He noted that farmers have remained poor for a longtime because their produce have low value and end up being bought at low prices.

He has also promised to fund women village saving groups in the district in a bid to reduce poverty and improve livelihood of mothers.

Other candidates competing with Olale for the same parliamentary seat include Isaac Lee Epaku Ogela(UPC), Samuel Edechu (FDC), Gabriel Ewalu and Paul Edyau both independent candidates.

Meanwhile, the women vying for for the district woman member of parliament seat include Ibi Florence Ekwau(FDC),Jane Awici(NRM), and independent candidates Leah Nantalo and Jane Francis Amongin.

Amongin contested during the primaries under NRM ticket and lost to Awici. PHOTOS: Alfred Edakasi Elalu Olale in a white mask and yellow cap during a rally. He is vying for Kaberamaido county parliamentary seat. Photo by Julius Elasu
