After the fall of Kabul the capital to the Taliban forces last month, the force has conquered another province.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid announced their victory in conquering Panjshir province.
Panjshir province is located about 150km North of Kabul. It is a valley with rugged mountains that was captured by the National Resistance Front, a diverse group of former security force members in the Taliban.
For over two weeks, heavy gun fire and fighting had escalated in in region which prompted the resistance group to call for a ceasefire.
Though the Taliban mouthpiece said the force had taken complete control of Panjshir province, some critics in the Anti-Taliban National Movement pledged to carry on fighting against the Taliban and that there struggle against them will continue.
As the Taliban continue to remain skeptical on when they shall form their government, On Saturday a first commercial domestic flight took off on the Hamid Karzai international airport runway in Kabul.
Several foreign countries have not yet recognized the Taliban. The world bank too has frozen millions of dollars waiting for a stable government in Afghanistan. It has worsened the humanitarian crisis in the Asian country.
