The Ministry of Education and Sports on October 29  addressed the press on the re-opening of universities, tertiary and vocational institutions.

These are to open on the 1st of November 2021 with a total number of 310,000 students expected to resume studying.

This was confirmed by Dr. Mugimba Dennis the spokesperson for the ministry of Education and Sports at Uganda Media Center in Kampala.

All institutions are to follow specific guidelines as set by the ministry which includes:

  1. Prioritizing the 1st year students
  2. Monitoring the progress of the students in schools.

Professor Pius Achanga has also encouraged institution owners to enroll the number of students they can manage because COVID-19 is still in existence.

He also encouraged the public to get vaccinated so that the country and the economy can be fully opened as said by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while addressing the nation on Thursday, October 28.
