The EC chairperson Justice Byabakama Simon Mugenyi on Monday 18th October 2021 handed over newly purchased vehicles and motorcycles to Electoral Commission field-based staff.
These vehicles will be deployed to new districts, cities, and other identified electoral districts to support in the delivery of electoral services.
The ceremony was held at the Electoral Commission warehouse located in Banda- Jinja road.

The commission procured 132 motor vehicles and 21 motorcycles.
Landcruisers, Double cabin Pickups, Cargo trucks were among the vehicles handed over.
The commission procured Yamaha motorcycles. They were 21 in quantity. These were given to different districts in Uganda including the newly created ones.
The drivers of the newly purchased vehicles were trained by Uganda Police Training School in Kibuli, in the defensive driving skills improvement.
Toyota Uganda limited and Victoria motor limited trained the drivers in the use and maintenance of the vehicles handed over.
The servicing of some of these newly purchased vehicles will be handled by Victoria motors in regional centers.

Toyota Hilux pickups will be handled by Toyota Uganda Limited. DEA will handle the servicing of the motorcycles.
Fueling of the vehicles and motorcycles will be done by Total Uganda Limited and Shell.
Justice Byabakama urged the drivers of the newly purchased vehicles to take care of them. He cautioned them against reckless driving.
The commissioner also warned drivers against using the vehicles for their personal purposes and gains.
