Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Lt. Gen Paul Lokech has been laid to rest.
Lokech was lowered into the grave at 5 Pm at his ancestral home in Paipir village, Luna Parish in Pader Town Council amidst an overwhelming emotion from his family members, relatives, and friends.
The army accorded Lt. Gen Lokech a 15-gun salute that roared through the airwaves of Paipir village for about three minutes as his body was being lowered into the grave.
Lt. Gen Lokech died on August 21 from his home in Kitikifumba zone in Kira Division, Wakiso District due to a blood clot in his lungs, according to a Postmortem report released by the Police.
He was posthumously promoted by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the rank of Lieutenant General in a speech delivered by Internal Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafire on Friday at Paipir Primary School playgrounds in Pader Town council.
Thousands of people from different walks of life today attended the sendoff off from Paipir Primary School.
Several speakers that attended the funeral service Presided over by the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah praised Lt. Gen Lokech’s bravery that earned him numerous victories in battles, brought peace in Uganda and Africa and earned him many friends.
