Unidentified gunmen have raided God Electronics in Rukungiri town, shot a private security guard, and made off with over Shillings 50 million.
The incident happened on Tuesday night. Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says that the gunmen shot Daniel Dokuze, 29, a guard attached to Saracen Security. Dokuze is admitted at Nyakibale Hospital.
He says that they robbed Shillings 50million from God Electronics and an unspecified number of phones. According to Maate, while retreating from their mission the robbers shot and killed Edward Tayebwa 19, a resident of Bunura Cell in Rwakabengo Ward in Southern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.
He says that police responded in time and apprehended one of the suspects identified as Dominic Twinomugisha 19, a resident of Katete cell in Mbarara City. He says that they also recovered a firearm registration number UGPOL 56582399632575 with 10 rounds of ammunition from the suspect.
Maate says that they are pursuing two other suspects as inquiries into the matter are ongoing. Rukungiri CPS has entered a case of aggravated robbery vide reference number CRB 1437/21.
