Leonard Mulekwah has been appointed as the new secretary to the Electoral Commission on a five-year contract renewable once.
Mulekwah has been in acting position since July 2020 when he succeeded Sam Rwakoojo who was sacked with other officials on grounds of corruption and of office.
His appointment comes with UGX 25 million monthly salary, with housing allowances, bodyguards, a car, special services, transport, among other benefits given to a civil servant to the level of permanent secretary.
Mulekwah R Leonard was approved as the Secretary to the Electoral Commission, following the meeting of 12th October 2021 under min.CM 259/2021. District focus has learnt from the letter written by the Chairman Electoral Commission Hon. Justice Byabakama.
