Police in Kaliro district is investigating circumstances under which 45 year old Jenipher Nakisendo, a resident of Kalalu Village in Bumanya sub county, Kaliro district killed her husband, Fred Olukwagana aged 58 years.

Nakisendo is said to have hit Olukwagana with a pestle twice in the head, before fleeing from the village.

It is said that Nakisendo engaged in a domestic brawl with Olukwagana, whom she accused of leaving home on Wednesday and instead returned on Thursday morning without prior communication.

Jackson Lubola, the village defense secretary says that, neighbors alerted him on how they had noticed blood spilling out of the couple’s house.

“This couple has been embroiled in endless domestic brawls, we counselled them and none of us imagined that, it would reach a point of losing a life in all this,” Lubola said. “We alerted police authorities who inspected the scene, retrieved his lifeless body before directing neighbors to clean the scene of crime.”

The Busoga North police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha confirms the incident adding that efforts of tracking down the suspect are underway.

Kasadha further challenged members of the general public to adopt peaceful means of handling conflicts other than opting for violence tendencies.

The deceased has been taken to Bumanya health center IV mortuary awaiting postmortem.
