The Former Works and Transport Minister, General Edward Katumba Wamala engaged the assailants who killed his daughter and driver this morning in Kisaasi, a Kampala suburb forcing them to flee.

The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah disclosed this after visiting Gen. Katumba at Medipal hospital along Acacia avenue where he is being treated for gunshot wounds. Unidentified gunmen riding on motorcycles intercepted Katumba’s vehicle registration number H4DF 2138 along Kisota road in Kisaasi and riddled it with bullets killing his daughter, Brenda Wamala Nantongo 27, and driver, Haruna Kayondo.

Katumba sustained two gunshot wounds in his shoulders and was rushed to Malcolm Hospital in Kisaasi for treatment before being transferred to Medipal hospital. Oulanyah, who visited Katumba together with his Deputy Anita Among, says that the attackers approached the General’s vehicle from the back and front and were determined to eliminate him.

He says that Katumba shot back at the assailants forcing them to flee.

According to Oulanyah, Gen. Katumba is heartbroken because of the assassination of his daughter.

Oulanyah has called upon members of parliament to pray for Katumba who had just lost his mother-in-law.
