Doctors at Medipal international Hospital have discharged former Works Minister and Army MP General Edward Katumba Wamala to allow him to attend the funeral of his slain daughter, Brenda Nantongo.

General Katumba Wamala, survived an assassination attempt on Tuesday when he was shot by unknown gunmen along Kisota road in the Bukoto-Kisaasi neighbourhood. General Katumba underwent surgery last evening to remove one of the bullets that were stuck in his arm.  However, he said in a statement, that the second bullet was not removed because of the effect it had on the arteries.

He also commended the boda-boda cyclist who volunteered to rush him to a nearby facility for first aid.

Martin Abooki, the head of Public Relations at Medipal Hospital said that the second operation would require some time to remove the bullet in the left shoulder. However, he adds that the General is now stable and the injuries are not alarming.

The body of Brenda Nantongo according to the program released by the family will be laid to rest tomorrow Thursday in Kikandwa, Kasawo in Mukono district. While Haruna Kayondo has been laid to rest in Masaka district today.
