On April, 12 (yesterday), Denis Onyango announced that he would never play for the country’s national Football team for the rest of his life.
Even before mid-day today, newsrooms were pumped with news that highly respected Football pundit Mujib Kasule had joined the ever growing queue to push Moses Magogo away (completely) into politics.
Magogo is MP-elect for Budiope East constituency in Buyende district.
Mujib Kasule, like Allan Sewanyana Bwiino, is going to contest for FUFA presidency. Phew!
This has come at a time when FUFA, the Football governing body in the country, is at war with youthful Mike Mutyaba who has for weeks now, on social media, been calling Magogo a thief who has, with his hangers-on, swindled millions of money supposed to be paid to national Football team players.
The beating of discontented Mike Mutyaba at FUFA on Friday last week is the reason why now, after Allan Sewanyana Bwiino, Mujib Kasule has joined the still short queue of those wanting to unseat Moses Magogo. People are angry.
Every Football fan that has seen the now viral video clip of security guards at FUFA flogging Mutyaba has accepted it that Magogo the MP-elect is really not the Magogo of 2013-2020 we knew.
Moses Magogo is a changed man. He is not the Magogo who existed before January 14 general elections. This one who orders for the thumping of former Cranes stars is terrible!
When I look at the pictures of a thin and poor Magogo of late nineties, I thank God who enabled me to remain humble despite my ability to scribble lines that shake empires that crumble in the end.
What is Magogo’s FUFA going to say to the angry world? It was bizarre. It was shocking indeed. Mutyaba was walloped like a chicken thief at FUFA house in Mengo last Friday. Oh!
He was later detained at old Kampala for more than a day.
We regard FUFA as a home where one can seek solace and refuge when overcome by trials and tribulations.
This war will not end until Magogo calls it a day. He should relinquish power at FUFA. His home is perhaps politics now.
There is going to be war in the sector (full of joy and laughter often) until Magogo comes out to apologize to all soccer lovers in the country.
We are too here joining the choir of those now singing the song entitled: “Magogo Should Watch His Back.”
Football players should be defended and shielded by the Football governing body!
Mutyaba risked and trained day and night to turn himself into the play maker we praised for years.
But what crime did Mutyaba really commit? Peacefully demonstrating is a constitutional right in this country.
Mutyaba was unarmed when he led a group of peaceful demonstrators to FUFA in Mengo. We are a deeply divided sector now.
We want FUFA to explain when it became a crime for we Football fans, who even throw stones in stadia, to protest when we are unhappy.
Mutyaba Sulaiman was kicked in the head by FUFA paid guards. He cried like a baby. I got ashamed. Oh!
