Police in Mukono is on hunt of a one Hakim Ssenfuka, the Mpoma Parish youth councilor in Nama Subcounty for attempting to kill Nama police station OC, ASP Culture Wilber where he deliberately knocked him down alongside two other people the OC was traveling with on a police motorcycle at the evening of the polling day of Local Council three leader.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigyire, on the evening of the polling day of LC3 leaders, Ssenfuka who was driving motor vehicle UBA 099H, blue in colour deliberately knocked down the OC alongside Sylvia Ssebusinde a presiding officer and one other victim who were traveling on motorcycle UP 7840.
“Ssenfuuka’s deliberate acts followed election related malpractices where the presiding officer sylvia Ssebusinde is alleged to have been involved, and was consequently arrested by the OC who was riding with him to the Police Station before they were knocked,” he said
The police mouthpiece further revealed that the OC-ASP Culture, together with the two victims are currently in hospital and out of danger.
He however noted that police has kick started investigations of both crimes of electoral malpractices and the attempted murder of the OC.
“While Police is looking into the allegations of the electoral malpractice allegedly committed by the presiding officer, the hunt is also on for the councilor involved in the incident of attempted murder,” he said
Meanwhile, eye witnesses on ground who spoke to the District Focus on condition of anonymity noted that Hakim allegedly knocked down the OC after he noticed that he was trying to stop electoral malpractice that was in favor of councilor Hakim.
However, Hakim who happened to be a flag bearer of the ruling National Resistance movement lost to National Unity Platform’s Muhammad Mutebi Kigongo.
